General Admission Guidelines

All students applying for admission into Orangewood Academy must complete the necessary forms and protocol for admission.  Enrollment forms, together with an informative school packet are available in the School Office or by clicking here.  All forms must be completed and signed prior to commencement of admissions process.  Recommendation forms are sent by the recommender directly to the school, unless otherwise requested by school due to time constraints.  Transcripts from the student’s most recent school of attendance must be included in the registration packet prior to scheduling the appointment with the principal for student interview. Financial arrangements are usually expected prior to the completion of the admissions process. To see a copy of the tuition schedule, click here. All new students and parents/guardians must meet with principal as the first official step of the admissions process.  I-20 student candidates must meet with principal upon their arrival in the country, and prior to beginning classes at Orangewood.  I-20 student guardians must personally meet with principal before the I-20 application process can begin.  Meetings with Business Manager and the School Registrar can be scheduled only after the meeting with the principal has been completed.  All prospective student applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee.  Students are notified by telephone and in writing as to the decision of the Committee.

Please refer to the Orangewood Academy Student Handbook for more information regarding class standing and course offerings.

I-20 (International) Students

The admissions process for all International (I-20) students requires some very specific processing.  As with students claiming U.S. citizenship, all the necessary forms and protocol for admission must be completed.  Enrollment forms, together with an informative school packet are available in the School Office.  All forms, including the I-20 application and all pertinent transcripts, must be completed and signed prior to commencement of admissions process.  Recommendation forms are sent by the recommender directly to the school, unless otherwise requested by school due to time constraints.  Guardians are required to be present for the student interview with the principal.  Application will not be processed without guardian attendance and participation in the process.  I-20 students must provide all necessary documents, as specified in the application packet, to proceed with the admission process.  All I-20 students must provide evidence of health insurance to extend throughout the entire school year prior to acceptance.

Financial arrangements are part of the admissions process.  These arrangements are made with the Business Manager after the appointment with the Principal.  Orangewood Academy does not accept first year I-20 students entering their final high school year, unless such a student is transferring to Orangewood from another U.S. accredited high school.  Upon arrival in the United Stated all I-20 students must provide ORANGEWOOD ACADEMY a copy of their student visa, the stamped I-20 form, the I-94 form, and a copy of their passport.

Exit/Entrance Examinations

All Orangewood Academy students will submit to an Exit Examination in English/Reading and Mathematics at the end of every school year.  This will provide a year-end assessment of student proficiency and mastery of these core academic areas.  Students who are performing below grade in the Exit Examination will be required to provide written evidence of a remedial or enrichment summer program prior to re-enrollment for the following school year.

All new students, and all incoming ninth grade students, will be given an English/Reading and Mathematics Placement Examination prior to final registration.  This test is scheduled for the final week prior to the beginning of the school year.  The exact dates will be provided on-line and by traditional mail.  Students who fail to take the Placement Test during the assigned times will be required to render the Placement Test on their first day of school.  Their status will not be normalized until their Placement Test has been assessed.  Students performing below grade level will be assigned to tutoring.  Students who are more than one year below grade level will be referred to the Academic Committee for final placement and/or acceptance.
