Orangewood Academy strives to maintain the highest standards of ethical behavior for administration, faculty, staff, and students. This commitment is based on the belief that humanity was created in the image of God. This divine design is not primarily an external one. The original design imprinted in humanity a love and propensity to do what is right, true and noble.
The fact that sin marred God’s masterpiece in the human race, is not a reason for those who are called by His name to surrender to anything but the highest standards. The Scriptures challenge every believe to consider “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable,” as something to be admired and emulated. When the redeemed of all the ages join in singing the praises of the Redeeming God, they proclaim, “Just and true are your ways.”
We desire to instill in every student an honor that transcends expediency and urgency. It is a standard based on a desire to honor God and His will for us. The call to a higher standard is a decision to partake in the work of restoring humanity rather than subscribing to the further decline of the human spirit. As a result, we will strive to treat every person with a spirit of grace, compassion, and fairness. We call on every student to hold themselves and their classmates to a level of honesty and integrity that is not limited to the public arenas of classroom or athletic arenas. It is a standard that calls for integrity when no one is watching—the setting where true ethics is revealed.
Any form of harassment, verbal or physical abuse, public or private ethical breaches as a means to attain personal gain or advantage in any private or public endeavor will be dealt with promptly and severely. Any act that defiles, debases, demeans, or devalues another human being is unacceptable and will lead to immediate disciplinary action by administration, and may lead to suspension and expulsion from Orangewood Academy. Every student will sign a Behavioral Contract, which commits the signer and the parent/guardian of the student to adhere and support these expectations.
