Elementary
At Orangewood Academy, we recognize that Kindergarten is a significant milestone in a childs life. It is not only the beginning of a childs formal education, but it is the first step toward lifelong learning and social participation. Exciting experiences and new friends make this year a special time for children and parents. For many children the first week of school is the first major separation from a childs secure and familiar world of home and family. Our Kindergarten program provides a strong foundation of loving support and understanding your child needs to begin his or her educational journey.
Students enrolled in the Elementary School continue to benefit from a low student-teacher ratio. They receive an education that is balanced and enriched by art, music, physical education, and technology. Students are encouraged to do their best so that achievement becomes not only a habit, but also a matter of personal pride.
We are committed to excellence and have high academic expectations for all of our students. Denominational benchmarks that meet or exceed state standards have been adopted for English, Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, History and Social Sciences. The curriculum, textbooks, resources and instruction methods, all align to these standards.
Achieving a balance in mind, body and spirit
Growing children need to play and develop their physical abilities. Thats why we promote healthy life habits and athletic growth from the beginning of a childs education.
Engaging in physical activity helps students develop performance skills and leadership abilities, as well as self-discipline, honesty, and fairness that comes from being a valued member of a team. Teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedicated effort - these are the lasting lessons of physical education.
Creative expression
When children are active in their arts, their imagination and their spirits soar. Our arts program seeks to build a childs creative confidence, and expression. Our children draw from life and from their imaginations, using the principles of design to make their artwork more visually compelling and meaningful.
