Maritza Duran - HS History
Maritza Duran graduated with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in Spanish and gender studies from La Sierra University in 2000 and immediately moved to Oakland, California to work at Golden Gate Academy. After working as an academy history and Spanish teacher for three years, she returned to La Sierra University in 2003 to obtain a master's degree in religious studies with an emphasis in the history of Christianity and a minor in Christian social ethics. Ms. Duran enjoys working with young people and hopes to inspire her students, through the study of history and Spanish, a desire to help and empower people in their immediate and global community. She hopes that as they strive toward academic excellence, they will also gain a new appreciation and understanding of their value in God's eyes and share that gift with others through their efforts to make this world a more just and loving place--one that reflects the Kingdom of God that Jesus so clearly depicted through his life on earth.
